Sheshnag - the Land of the King Serpent
Sheshnag is situated at the altitude of 3,570 m from the sea level. Through
spectacular, primeval countryside, and the prime centre of attraction is
Sheshnag, a mountain which inherits its name from its seven peaks,
resembling the heads of a mythical snake. The trip to Sheshnag follows steep
inclines up the right bank of a descending stream and wild surroundings
untouched by civilization. The second night's camp at Sheshnag (Wawjan)
overlooks the deep blue waters of Sheshnag lake and glaciers beyond it. The
lake is striking with an exquisite setting of colours. There are interesting
legends of love and revenge associated with the Sheshnag, and at the camp
these are recounted by campfires, to the tranquility of a pine-scented,
Himalayan night.

Sheshnag Lake
Sheshnag symbolizes the cosmic ocean in which Lord Vishnu, the preserver of
this universe, moves, reclining on a seven-headed mythical snake. After
getting refreshed with the bath of ice-cold water of Sheshnag, the yatri
takes a steep climb to the most difficult spot. Mahagunna (4,350 meters).
